Back home....

First day back at work since i got back from Sydney was eventful...
The guy was not well... n had to be sent to the hospital...
Nothing life-threatening.. He was suffering from hyper-reflexia..
Dunno what that is? Go n google it la... Increase ur knowledge..
hehehee...
In simpler terms, Hyper-reflexia is the reaction of the involuntary(autonomic) nervous system to over-stimulation.
And it is common in Spinal Cord Injured patients..

So... we had to call for an ambulance n send him there... Quite cool le.. hehehee...
First time sittin in the ambulance.. THOUGH of crse i dont wish to do that again unless necessary.. hhaa..
From the guy, i learnt that they have 3 levels of emergency n depending on which level to warrant the siren to be started.. cool...
N they can go up to 160km/hr in speed in emergencies...
The paramedics were really nice friendly..
But sad to say, i cant say the same for the hospital staff in the emergency dept at Royal Melbourne Hospital..
They were not exactly sympathetic nor caring nor friendly...
Seein these kinda treatment, it really always upsets me..
How can hospital staff be so cold n aloof... Then why enter this profession if that's the way u treat ur patients..
I could see so many things that were done in a manner that was NON-patient centred..
N i had to bite my lip to shut up.. hahahaa....

**Not to make any sweeping statements abt the medical staff in RMH.. This could just be the rare few staff that were so unfeeling n robotic in their work..*

I guess, it always is a constant reminder to myself..
That no matter how burnt out i feel or tired out or depressed i am, i should nvr show it to my patients... (i think so far i have been able to accomplish that with ease.. haha)
It is really so comfortin for patients in pain/discomfort to have their healthcare professionals showin the care n concern n patience for them regardless..

Anyway, i was so exhausted upon gettin home..
Had to continue to unpack my stuff..
After dinner n all... went to my room to crash..
tiredd.......

Woke up this morning feelin as thou i did not sleep....

*** i will be posting up my Sydney Trip stuff n all in a few days.. With pics***
